SNOW RESPONSE PLAN
General Policy Statement
2004 - 2005

This plan is intended to provide orderly and prioritized methods to fight snowstorms. Each storm will present different obstacles and the onsite Supervisor must use judgment to alter the plan as needed and dispatch crews and equipment in the most efficient manner. Weather conditions and the time of day a storm hits may require changing priorities.

Snow and ice control is considered emergency work and the designated surface areas must be cleared at any time, day or night. Because of the potential hazard to employees, visitors, students, faculty, and others arriving on site, careful planning and preparation must be done prior to the snow and ice season. The planning process is made considerably more difficult due top the variable conditions encountered during each storm. Such things as the rate and accumulation of snowfall, moisture content, temperature, time of day or night, wind direction and velocity, as well as duration of event are all factors that interact to create a unique aspect for each storm with the result that no two storms are ever identical. The goal of Titan Enterprises LLC is to provide a safe surface, free of excess snow and ice on roadways, sidewalks, and parking lots.

TYPICAL SNOW REMOVAL PROCEDURES

  1. Once snow accumulates to the minimum depth requirement of 2 to 3 inches, Titan will dispatch sidewalk crews to clear all walkways, doors, and entrances.
  2. Titan will then dispatch 5 - 10 plow trucks (depending upon depth) to begin plowing. A loader will be sent out to plow lot and stack snow as needed.
  3. The sander truck will be dispatched upon request to sand all of the recently plowed lots and entrances.
  4. Snow piles will be removed upon request (see requested service prices on proposal).

MONITORING AND INSPECTIONS (SUMMARY)

Titan will always have at least two "in-field" supervisors in plow trucks during snow plowing and removal process.

Supervisors will have a cellular phone and a two-way radio for communication.

Titan has 10 Motorola two-way radios that will be dispatched to the shovel crews, plow truck drivers, loader operators, and dump truck drivers so that crews can contact supervisors and coordinate activities in an efficient manner. This constant access to communication with the crews allows us to monitor productivity and ensure all services are performed correctly and completely.
